John J. Roach

John Joshua Roach (“Josh”) spent more than three decades building technology companies, leading large software organizations, and helping shape the digital systems that power modern businesses. As a technology executive, CTO, and Senior Vice President of Engineering, he led global teams of hundreds of engineers, architects, and data scientists, overseeing the development of cloud platforms, artificial intelligence systems, and large-scale software services used around the world. Throughout his career, Josh was fascinated by both technology and storytelling. While one explored what humanity could build, the other explored who we are, what we value, and the choices that shape our lives. Long before writing his first novel, he was an avid reader of epic fantasy, drawn to the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, Ursula K. Le Guin, Guy Gavriel Kay, Bernard Cornwell, George R.R. Martin, and other masters of the genre. Following his retirement from the technology industry, John turned his attention to a lifelong dream: creating a richly imagined fantasy world of his own. The result is West of Wonder, an epic fantasy trilogy that blends adventure, mystery, political intrigue, ancient legends, and the enduring struggle between power and honor. When he is not writing, John can often be found traveling with his wife, cycling along the California coast, exploring mountain trails in Colorado, reading history and literature, or searching for inspiration in the landscapes that help bring his fictional worlds to life.
